2013-2014 EBU BAY OAKS U15-U18 PLACEMENT DATES

• U15: Mon 2/25 U15G:  4-6 pm  U15B:  6-8 pm
• U16: Tue 2/26 U16G:  4-6 PM  U16B:  6-8 PM
• U17: Wed 2/27 U17G:  4-6 PM  U17B:  6-8 PM
• U18: Thu 2/28 U18G: 4-6 PM  U18B:  6-8 PM
   

Location - Alameda Point (will be moved to Raimondi Park in case of bad weather)

The Alameda point fields are located on the west side of 2nd street in Alameda, in the former Naval Air Station. From I-880 take exit 41B Broadway, and go west toward the Posey tube tunnel. After the tunnel turn right on Willie Stargell Ave, continue on Midway Ave, and then turn right on Lexington St and continue to 2nd St.
 

Raimondi is located in West Oakland bounded by 18th and 20th Streets, and Campbell and Wood Streets. From I-980 (the Grove-Shafter Freeway that connects 580 to 880), take the West Grand Avenue exit. Follow West Grand Avenue west until it crosses the Mandela Parkway (formerly called Cypress Street). Turn left on Campbell Street, the last street before West Grand becomes a freeway. Follow Campbell two blocks to the fields. Field #1 is the East field closest to Mandela. Field #2 is closest to Wood Street.
 

All returning players are expected to attend the Placement Day for their age group or contact their coach or Glenn van Straatum ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), the club's Director of Coaching/Coaching Director in charge of U15-18 age group.   All interested players should register for Placement Day on our website, even if they can't attend Placement Day.

During and after Placement Day, any of the following may occur:
 

• A player receives an offer to play for a specific team
• A player receives an offer to join the club but it is not clear yet which team that player will be invited to join (if this offer is accepted, the player will be guaranteed a spot on a team in our club)
• A player is asked to attend some practices to determine if an offer will be made to our club.
• A player is told that they will not be receiving an offer to be part of the club in 2013.

Calendar
 

• The coach of each team will decide when that team starts practice.  In some instances it may be before Placement Days to prepare for State Cup and other March competitions.  Players still participating with their high school team may not participate at practice until their high school season is over.
• Some teams will play in March tournaments.
• All spring leagues are expected to start in the second or third weekend of March (please note that this is a change for Gold, Silver and Bronze flighted teams).
• State Cup Knockout Phase:  typically starts at some point in March and typically ends some point in April.
• College Advisory:  interested players should set up a spring meeting with their coach and Glenn to develop a game plan regarding college selection (EBU has developed a stronger college advisory program to assist our players in this confusing process).
• College Night  will be held in May
• College Workshop will be held in May or June.
• Graduation Night will be held in May or June (the U17 teams are responsible for organizing Graduation Night).

By locking in our players for next year in February and early March, our teams should have more stability earlier.  New players interested in joining the club can be invited to join training sessions, coaches will be better able to evaluate those players and how they fit with a team.  Returning players will have less uncertainty about where they stand.  We understand that no system is perfect.
