Dear Players and Parents,
The 2013 EBU Bay Oaks U15-U18 Placement Dates will be in the week of February 25-February 28th, 2013. Bay Oaks will follow the same procedure for forming teams in our U15-U18 age-groups that we followed in 2012.
PLEASE REGISTER NOW at
Our aim of the U15-U18 Placement Dates is to enable our club and its older teams to have stability earlier so players can be placed in their appropriate teams and be assured of their status for the 2013-2014 season within the club. The club intends not to have any formal tryouts in the U15-U18 age-group in May. Below are more details of the 2013 Placement dates, process and procedures.
2013-2014 EBU BAY OAKS U15-U18 PLACEMENT DATES
We will conduct Placement Days in the week of February 25 as follows:
Location - Alameda Point (will be moved to Raimondi Park in case of bad weather)
The Alameda point fields are located on the west side of 2nd street in Alameda, in the former Naval Air Station. From I-880 take exit 41B Broadway, and go west toward the Posey tube tunnel. After the tunnel turn right on Willie Stargell Ave, continue on Midway Ave, and then turn right on Lexington St and continue to 2nd St.
Raimondi is located in West Oakland bounded by 18th and 20th Streets, and Campbell and Wood Streets. From I-980 (the Grove-Shafter Freeway that connects 580 to 880), take the West Grand Avenue exit. Follow West Grand Avenue west until it crosses the Mandela Parkway (formerly called Cypress Street). Turn left on Campbell Street, the last street before West Grand becomes a freeway. Follow Campbell two blocks to the fields. Field #1 is the East field closest to Mandela. Field #2 is closest to Wood Street.
During and after Placement Day, any of the following may occur:
Teams will begin training soon after the Placement Day. Teams will have the flexibility to add additional players throughout the year. The coach will inform the player when the offer to register will expire. An offer may only be made to a player with the approval of Glenn van Straatum, our Director of Coaching ("Glenn").
By locking in our players for next year in February and early March, our teams should have more stability earlier. New players interested in joining the club can be invited to join training sessions, coaches will be better able to evaluate those players and how they fit with a team. Returning players will have less uncertainty about where they stand. We understand that no system is perfect.
We look forward to another great season!
